Discover the traditional music of Oaxaca, México! Banda Filarmónica Vientos Regionales is a youth philharmonic band aiming to preserve, promote and strengthen the indigenous and Oaxaqueño heritage. The Long Center concert is part of the band’s September 2025 visit to the City of Lafayette, a multi-day cultural exchange and live musical performances. Be a part of the audience as the youth orchestra performs a regional repertoire that celebrates the music of Oaxaca culture.
JESÚS JHOVANY OSORIO MÉNDEZ: Despite Mr. Méndez's young age, he possesses 15 years of experience as a musical instructor, as he began teaching while he was simultaneously attaining a Bachelors in Arts from the Instituto Multidiciplinariode Especialización. He is also a composer and music arranger of traditional and contemporary music, while also being a member of various local bands and ensembles.
FROYLAN BAUTISTA GABRIEL: Mr. Bautista is not only a musical instructor for BFVR but he is also a trained musician, having received his Bachelors in Music from Facultad de Bellas Artes ABJO in Oaxaca. In addition to this project, he is also a member of the iconic ensemble, Pasatono, and is also a musical instructor at La Casa de la Culturain Apaztlide Magdalena Apazco Etla.
EDNA MORALES BAUTISTA: Mrs. Morales serves as the instructor for entry-level music students at BFVR where she teaches students how to read music. With a degree in Pedagogy received from the Universidad Golfo de México, Mrs. Morales has participated in prestigious bands including the elite all-female philharmonic band, Mujeres de Viento Florido, among others.
